A Look at Mayfair Diagnostics Regina
Located at Regina Centre Crossing (in the former Superstore building), near the intersection of Albert Street and Saskatchewan Drive, Mayfair Diagnostics Regina is just north of downtown – five minutes from Pasqua Hospital and eight minutes from the Regina General Hospital. The clinic has been helping patients throughout the city with their diagnostic imaging needs since November 2011.
According to Clinic Manager, Kevan Tayler, “When we first opened we had to start fresh building trust and relationships in the community, but our cutting-edge technology, high standard of care, and ability to offer fast reporting and specialized reads from specialty-trained radiologists have been great assets in becoming part of the community.”
From its central location, the clinic operates seven days a week, offering X-ray, ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services. X-ray is available on a walk-in basis Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., while ultrasound exams run Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. by appointment.
In Regina, we provide MRIs as a publicly funded, community-based service under contract with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and as a private pay exam. MRI appointment hours are between 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
“We have a pretty steady flow of patients from open to close, and we’ve got a great team that does a really good job of supporting our patients,” says Tayler. “In fact, the high level of care that Mayfair maintains for our patients on a daily basis has set the bar for diagnostic imaging in the community, which I think our patients appreciate.”
Mayfair Diagnostics is owned and operated by over 60 specialized radiologists providing comprehensive diagnostic medical imaging services to 13 clinics in Calgary and one in Regina. As the only Mayfair clinic outside of Calgary, Mayfair Diagnostics Regina is special in many ways. It’s the only one to offer public MRI services which helps whittle away at the public waiting list, while breast screening and image-guided pain therapy services aren’t offered in Saskatchewan due to provincial regulations.
However, the clinic has the best of both worlds with a great local team, including the clinic’s onsite medical director Dr. Patricia Jo who grew up in Regina and went to medical school in Saskatoon. Plus, it benefits from organizational investment in the latest technology and access to specialized training for technologists, such as musculoskeletal ultrasound training.
“Our team is young, but excited to work here and eager to evolve with the company. Even though we don’t offer them, our technologists know they have the opportunity to expand their training into cutting-edge services like ABUS, Image-Guided Pain Therapy, and MSK Ultrasound if they choose,” says Tayler. “My favourite part about working at Mayfair is our commitment to being at the cutting-edge in technology and service, but that ultimately improving the patient experience is our bottom line.”
