Mayfair Named Company of the Year
I’m excited that today, Mayfair was recognized as a Business Intelligence Group Company of the Year. The Business Intelligence Group seeks out and rewards those with vision, creativity, and persistence – all hallmarks which they believe can be found in the world’s leading companies and individuals across the globe.
The award comes as a result of our work to reimagine medical imaging. Recognizing that more often than not the overall experience in health care doesn’t meet patient expectations, we set out to create an experience that exceeds them.
Today, the reality is that people have become accustomed to expect more from an experience, whether they’re at the doctor’s office, the Apple store, or the Four Seasons. Whatever the service, patients are comparing it to the experiences they are having outside of health care. It’s for this reason that we set out to understand what it really feels like to be a patient and to come up with ideas about how we could deliver exceedingly good patient experiences.
To do this, we engaged patients in a process called co-creation. Simply put, co-creation is all about collaborating and joint problem solving with key stakeholders. It is regularly used by the retail and hospitality industry, and Mayfair wanted to bring that customer-focused approach to patient care – adding empathy, compassion, and understanding to what can be a technical medical experience.
Through intensive survey research, workshops, and interviews with patients, we discovered that today’s patients, having a consumer mindset, like to find out as much as they can about their medical conditions. Leveraging this, and other insights drawn from patients through co-creation, we designed a new clinic in the North West community of Coventry Hills in Calgary, AB. The clinic features a private Knowledge Bar room where patients can access free information resources within its library and online. Patients will also soon be able to book appointments and get confirmations online, and should they choose, perform self-check-ins.
