In Calgary and Regina, Mayfair Diagnostics performs vascular ultrasounds to check for blood clots and assess the flow of blood to the brain. There are many different vascular ultrasounds that are used to examine the blood flow in your veins and arteries. A vascular ultrasound is often requested to locate and identify blockages and abnormalities, or evaluate the success of procedures that graft or bypass blood vessels.
The most common types are venous (vein) ultrasound of the leg or arm to check for DVT and the carotid artery ultrasound to assess blood flow to the brain, which could be used to check for risk of stroke. These two exams are performed at 12 locations in Calgary, while our Regina clinic only performs venous ultrasound.
Our highly trained vascular team, which includes Registered Vascular Technologists, also performs specialized vascular ultrasound studies at our Vascular Lab in Mayfair Place, and has been doing so for over ten years.
