Vascular Ultrasound

There are many different tests that evaluate the blood flow to various parts of the body. The most common are a Venous (vein) Ultrasound of the leg or arm to check for blood clots and the carotid artery ultrasound to assess the flow of blood to the brain.

In cases of swelling or pain in the leg, your doctor may order an ultrasound to check for DVT. Or, if you have symptoms that may indicate a risk for a stroke, your doctor may order a Carotid, Vertebral, and Subclavian Arteries Ultrasound.

Our sonographers who perform specific vascular studies, particularly ultrasound of the arteries, are Registered Vascular Technologists. Please note Mayfair Diagnositcs Regina only performs the Venous Ultrasound procedure.

We don’t use contrast or dye injections for any of these ultrasound tests.

Our Technology

The Logiq EP ultrasound system from GE is a poweful and versatile imaging sytem that delivers extraordinary image quality for a variety of body types. It is also adept at visualizing blood flow. Using a transducer, it produces sound waves and collects the echoes back from the body, which the computer then interprets as images.
