As a Digital Imaging Assistant at Mayfair—official partner of Calgary Sports and Entertainment—you’ll manage DICOM workflows, perform image quality checks, prep studies, and support radiologists so they can focus on interpretation, including urgent cases for professional athletes. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

As an employee you have access to an annual allocation for professional development and we reimburse your annual professional dues. We are committed to helping you achieve the technical expertise required for your role by providing various training resources through internal and external providers. Each modality has an internal training program that will expand your skill set and confidence within certain specialties, such as breast imaging, MSK, vascular, nuchal translucency, elastography, bone mineral densitometry, mammography, and pain therapy. We also offer educationally accredited CPD and CME rounds for MRT and DMS employees. In addition to technical training, all employees have access to a Mayfair-exclusive course catalogue that offers a variety of core and optional self-development, leadership, and soft-skill training online courses. They help ensure you are fully trained in what you need to master your job, but also allow you to expand your knowledge in other areas of interest. Topics include health and safety legislation, including workplace bullying, harassment, and violence; and courses to help with time management, communication, psychological well-being, and other skills. What qualifications are needed?

Usually a high-school diploma or equivalent; some roles prefer training in medical terminology, anatomy, or imaging support. On-the-job training is common.

Yes, familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) is very helpful; many jobs expect basic ability to use such systems.

Regular clinics often have daytime hours (Monday-Friday), but some flexibility is required — evening or weekend support, or covering for absences.

Yes — part of your role is preparing patients for their imaging, helping them be comfortable, explaining basic instructions, and ensuring their safety and privacy.

Yes — moving or positioning patients, helping with equipment, cleaning, preparing rooms. Sometimes lifting or supporting patients may be required.

Rates vary by employer, experience, and responsibilities. Some assistant roles in imaging are posted around CAD ~$30-40/hr+ depending on skill and equipment. (Assistants with specialized duties or in busy / high demand clinics may earn more.)
