Image-Guided Pain Therapy

Image-Guided Pain Therapy involves a doctor treating your pain by injecting medication through a small needle, or performing a treatment on soft tissues under direct visualization. In order to target the right spot, we use digital fluoroscopic X-ray and ultrasound.

These procedures are very low risk and often provide pain relief right away. You may benefit from injections if you have:

  • Arthritis or persistent joint pain
  • Soft tissue inflammation or pain
  • Bakers cyst
  • Joint or soft tissue injuries

Common treatment areas include:

  • Hips
  • Knees
  • Shoulders
  • Elbows
  • Lumbar spine
  • Ankles, wrists and thumbs

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

  • You will need a referral from your physician or therapist to request these procedures.
  • Once assessed by your practitioner, you will need to send us a requisition which will clarify what area and type of injection is requested.

Our Technology

The OEC 9900 Elite C-arm from GE is an X-ray machine used by the radiologist to help identify the area to be treated. It has fluoroscopic and radiographic capabilities which help guide the radiologist during the exam, at a very low radiation dose. It is also able to pivot to capture the optimal angle, minimizing the need for repeated exposures.
