3 THINGS TO KNOW WHEN BOOKING

If you’ve recently visited a doctor and the doctor has ordered medical imaging for you, they will likely have filled out a requisition – paperwork requesting the specific exam and explaining why it’s needed. Your doctor might then:

  1. Fax the requisition directly to the medical imaging company, and that company will call you to arrange your appointment.
  2. Give you the requisition for you to call the medical imaging company to book your appointment.

THE MAYFAIR DIAGNOSTICS CUSTOMER CONTACT CENTRE HANDLES MEDICAL IMAGING APPOINTMENT BOOKINGS

At Mayfair Diagnostics, we have 13 medical imaging clinics across Calgary. We also have one each in Cochrane, Saskatoon, and Regina. To make it easier for our patients to access the most up-to-date information about available appointment times across all of our locations and to effectively handle the volume of requests, the majority of our appointment bookings are handled in one central location by our Customer Contact Centre.

You can visit a clinic in person to book an appointment at that clinic, or you can contact the Mayfair Diagnostics Customer Contact Centre via the following options:

  • By telephone:
    • (Toll Free) 1-866-611-2665
    • (Local) 403-777-3000 – You will then be prompted to select a department.
    • Please note that our telephone booking system has two options to schedule, reschedule, or change an appointment. Select option 1 for general booking, then select option 1 for new appointments or option 2 for rebooking/cancelling.
  • By email: generalbooking@radiology.ca
  • Through a Contact Us form on Mayfair’s website.

In addition to booking requests, our booking team handles numerous requests for information, such as exam preparation instructions, directions, and parking instructions.

CERTAIN DAYS OF THE WEEK SEE HIGHER CALL VOLUMES

The Contact Centre has recently expanded our team and is available between 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday. Despite this, we do sometimes see high call volumes, especially on Mondays and Tuesdays, which can result in slightly longer wait times. If your requests are not urgent, we recommend calling us in the later part of the week to reduce the chance of waiting on hold.

IF YOUR DOCTOR FAXES A REQUISITION TO US, THE CONTACT CENTRE WILL CALL YOU TO BOOK YOUR APPOINTMENT

When requests for medical imaging are sent to the Mayfair Diagnostics Customer Contact Centre, each requisition is reviewed by a member of the team, and a radiologist if necessary. These forms are checked for accuracy, appropriateness, availability, and any special considerations. For more information about medical imaging requisitions, please refer to this article.

After each requisition is reviewed, a booking coordinator will then contact you. Depending on the complexity of the exams being requested, this may take from 2-5 days after receiving the requisition from your referring doctor. However, urgent requests are handled immediately.
